Meyer's manual has several sections covering different weapons: longsword, staff, dussack, dagger, and rapier. Dussack simulators are not legal for use for fencing or rattan combat, so technically as long as you aren't fighting with them inside a list field or calling it an A&S display I don't think anyone but an autocrat can regulate you. Anyway, Meyer has a system that is very German in its origins and very unlike many of his contemporaries in other regions. The sword is a shorter one, the guards are different, the grip is different, and there are more cuts and cuts that transition to thrusts. I can definitely attest to its efficacy in C&T, though it may be somewhat limited for rapier combat because of the rules. The manual does not have an exceptional depth of theory, but it doesn't leave you absent necessary information, either. It presents a complete system that has produced excellent modern scholarship and some very fine fencers. If you are looking for one manual that covers a few different things, but don't want to go down the Italian path, this may be for you. Meyer, by Forgeng 2nd edition

We have been slowly working through the Meyer longsword section locally, piecing together things. It got to be frustrating when we were just virtual when we got to a certain point because practical application was needed. With practical application, we are piecing together bits. Meyer's 1570 work is definitely not for the impatient, but it is fairly exhaustive. The Forgeng translation is better than the Wiktenauer one at this time. I recently also picked up The Illustrated Meyer, and it seems like it will be a nice companion to the Forgeng.
